Nowadays, energy is being run out more and more so it is one of the most important things of our life. We need to save energy because nobody of us can lives without energy. So why don't we start to do it right in our home? We have many ways to save energy in our home. One of those ways is using electricity, water and gas economically. Such as we should turn off the light in room when we go out or in unnecessary situations, avoid wasting water, shut the kitchen stove when stop cooking. Use a microwave instead of a stove to reheat food. Use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable batteries... Besides, we should use electrical equipment which are energy - saving. Such as using lights and fans that have low capacity, or using equipment which reserve electricity. Not only do these help us to save money but also they work effectively.
In addition, we should frequently check electrical equipment in our home in order to fix opportunely. In summary, we need to save energy so that energy isn't run out and continues to serve human's life.

Hello everyone ! My name is Phuong and today I’m going to give you some useful information about how to save water at home.

Well, we all know that water is an integral part of our life; thus, we cannot stop using it but just reduce the amount of water we use daily. These following tips will help us to cut down on water waste.
Firstly, we should regularly check faucets, pipes and toilets for cracks to ensure that any leaking toilet tanks or dropping taps are fixed as soon as possible. Secondly, don’t forget to turn off the taps while we are brushing our teeth, washing our face or getting a shave as we can save up to 5 liters of water per minute. Thirdly, having a shower uses much less water than bathing in a bathtub, so try to take a shower every time you can. Another tip is to run washing machines and dishwashers only when we have enough dirty clothes and dishes for full loads. Lastly, never think of using the toilet as an ashtray or a wastebasket for cigarette butts, facial tissues, tea bags and other kinds of small trash because flushing these items can waste about ten liters of water each time.

It can be concluded that these five simple actions help us save water, save our own money and prevent water pollution as well. Thanks for your listening!

  • Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth – this can save 6 litres of water per minute.
  • Place a cistern displacement device in your toilet cistern to reduce the volume of water used in each flush. You can get one of these from your water provider.
  • Take a shorter shower. Showers can use anything between 6 and 45 litres per minute. Consider getting an aerated shower head, which combines water and air, or inserting a regulator in your shower, which puts an upper limit on flow rates.
  • Always use full loads in your washing machine and dishwasher – this cuts out unnecessary washes in between.
  • Fix a dripping tap. A dripping tap can waste 15 litres of water a day, or 5,500 litres of water a year.
  • Install a water butt to your drainpipe and use it to water your plants, clean your car and wash your windows. A water butt can collect around 5,000 litres a year.
  • Water your garden with a watering can rather than a hosepipe. A hosepipe can use as much as 1,000 litres of water an hour. Mulching your plants (with bark chippings, heavy compost or straw) and watering in the early morning and late afternoon will reduce evaporation and also save water.
  • Fill a jug with tap water and place this in your fridge. This will mean you do not have to leave the cold tap running for the water to run cold before you fill your glass.
  • Install a water meter. When you're paying your utility provider for exactly how much water you use, laid out in an itemised bill, there's an incentive to waste less of the stuff.
  • Invest in water-efficient goods when you need to replace household products. You can now get water-efficient showerheads, taps, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers and many other water-saving products. For more information visit the Waterwise website.
